We run your domain portfolio for you — registrations, renewals, transfers, records and ownership details — so it stops being something anyone at your business has to remember.
Domain names are the address for everything your business does online. Your website sits behind one. So does your email, and increasingly your logins, your file sharing and your invoicing. Keeping that foundation correct is a small ongoing job, but the consequences of dropping it are disproportionate.
Not sure whether it’s worth outsourcing? We’ve set out the case in full on why businesses have their domains professionally managed.
What we take on
- Registration of new domains, including defensive variants and alternative extensions
- Renewals — tracked and actioned ahead of expiry, not left to an automated email
- Transfers in and out, including authorisation codes and registrar locks
- Registrant and contact records, kept accurate and in your business’s name
- DNS records, changes and troubleshooting
- Registrar-level security: transfer locks, two-factor access, and DNSSEC where the extension supports it
- A single point of contact for anything domain-related
What you keep
Ownership. Your business is named as the legal registrant on every domain we manage. We act on your behalf, not in place of you. If you ever want to move your domains to another provider, they’re yours to move and we’ll help you do it.
How we get started
1. Audit
We establish exactly which domains you hold, where they’re registered, when they expire and who is currently listed as the owner. Most businesses find at least one surprise here — a forgotten renewal still being paid for, or a domain registered in a former employee’s name.
2. Consolidation
Your domains are brought together under one managed portfolio, so there’s a single renewal calendar instead of several accounts nobody has the logins for.
3. Correction
Ownership and contact details are put right, and security settings applied — transfer locks, two-factor authentication, and DNSSEC where available.
4. Ongoing management
Renewals, records and changes are handled by us. You get a named contact who knows your setup, rather than a general support queue.
Renewals and expiry
At Domain Warden we value your online presence and the domain names associated with your business. To ensure the seamless operation of your digital assets, it’s worth understanding how renewal and expiry work.
Renewal notification
Approximately 30 days before your domain name(s) expire, we’ll send renewal notifications to the email address listed on your account. These set out the renewal date, the associated costs and how to renew. Please keep your contact details up to date so these reach you.
Renewal period
Domains registered through Domain Warden typically have a renewal period of one year. During this period you can renew at the standard renewal rate. Rates vary depending on the top-level domain (TLD) and any promotions running at the time.
Grace period
After the expiry date there is usually a grace period during which you can still renew without incurring redemption fees. The length varies by TLD but is typically around 7 days. Renewals during this period are charged at the standard rate.
Redemption period
If a domain isn’t renewed during the grace period it may enter the redemption period, which can last up to 30 days. You can still recover the domain during this time, but redemption fees apply on top of the standard renewal rate.
Deletion
After the redemption period, any domain still unrenewed is released for public registration on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a domain has been deleted, Domain Warden cannot guarantee its availability or recover it on your behalf.
Auto-renewal
To keep this simple and avoid unintentional expiry, you can opt into our auto-renewal service. When enabled, domains renew automatically using the payment method on file.
Your account
You can review the status of your domains, including expiry dates and renewal reminders, through your Domain Warden account. We’d still encourage you to keep an eye on it — but the point of the service is that you don’t have to.
